Hannah Long Life

Some of you may have noticed my mom commented on the last post and called me Hannah Long Life. It made me laugh because that is what my mom and dad have called me since High School. Im still trying to figure out why, but the way they explain it is that everything in my life seems to drag on and on forever. My dad says he felt like I was 18 for 10 years. I think its cause I put them through so much that year it seemed never ending! from then on, my life has seemed longer than most. My college years, and then my mission were endless, then I got married which seemed fast to most of the world, but for some reason to my family and I it seemed like It took forever... ha ha. Now my pregnancy has seemed to last a century. WHY IS

THAT? Do I have a curse? Could someone in the family please explain why we all feel this way about my life?

I hope everyone knows how crucial it is that you update your blogs frequently because I need new things to look at everyday!! Dont let me down. I have become obsessed with blogging as a way to pass the time :)

Taking his time

Baby update:

No baby yet... people werent kidding when they told me you start to count every second the last week. My due date is Sunday, and I swear it couldnt seem any further away. This past sunday I thought I would surely have him because my ankles were more swollen than ever, and I was having contractions every ten min and had really strong back pains. I cleaned my entire house and got everything ready and as soon as I sat back down on the couch to relax the contractions stopped! This little guy is really taking his time :) Which, if he needs it, is fine with me. I am learning to be patient.

Mom's fault

Lately I have had a thing for Joni Mitchell's music probably because everytime I go to my moms blog one of her songs plays. This song brings back a flood of memories growing up to my mom singing in the kitchen. It also makes me want to move to California where its warm!!!

Thanks mom you hippie you...

My blue and white valentines day!

Being pregnant on Valentines makes you feel anything but romantic, so this year we decided that we would just spent quality time together working on the baby room! Its finally done and we both just love to sit in it and imagine that in just a few weeks, (or less) we will have a little baby sleeping in that crib!

KC brought home plenty of gear from Boston to make our baby an automatic Boston Red Sox fan! It was so fun to see how excited he was when he showed me.

I bought this rocking horse at the good 'ol D.I. for just 3 bucks! in perfect condition!

KC and I have a tradition that on every holiday we buy each other children's books. We are building a mini library!

ANOTHER ONE!

Hailey went into labor this morning with a breach baby and a few hours later and a c-section, out came CACHE JAMESON STEPHENS!!! He is so adorable I could have stayed at the hospital all day holding him. He looks a lot like his brother and sister... You know what that means??

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

KC is out on his second business trip within the last month, and I sure do miss him! (he left this morning... ha ha) I have just been reflecting a lot today on family, and love (valentines day is coming up you know...) and I just cant help but feel an overwhelming love and appreciation for the man in my life!He makes so many sacrifices for me, and always has such a positive outlook on everything. He really is such an optimist. We are both so excited about the baby coming and let me just say that I already sense the amazing bond between father and son. When KC touches my belly our little man is always quick to respond to his daddy. I can hardly wait for them to finally meet, because I just know it will be an amazing and spiritual experience for our family. I just think the role a man plays in life is so incredible. So much is expected of them and they have so many influences trying to stop them from fufilling that role. I love my husband so very very much. I feel like sometimes we fail to recognize the great men that are out there! So, for all you married women, take the time this week to show your man you love him!

looking back

I am constantly daydreaming about my baby! (Its kind of hard to not think about him when he is dancing inside my tummy all day) I want to know what he will look like and who he will grow up to be. KC and I have both felt the pressures of parenting in a world like this and had our sleepless nights thinking about how we can do whats best for our little guy. Today I just had to look back at some of our baby pictures to get a glimpse of what he might look like!

You asked for it!!

OK OK... Everyone has been begging me to post a picture of my belly and Ive been too scared to show you, but I figure, im only going to get bigger so I might as well post one now while there is still hope of getting a good angle that might slim me down a bit :) so here it is! I also cut my hair today so I thought i would show you all my transformation!

Heres to being huge for 7 more weeks!

and Heres what KC thinks about it...

Two to go!

My Sister Sadie had her baby on the 11th! Teague Emmerson Haynie... What a cutie! Its making me so nervous with each new baby that comes knowing that I only have 1 prego sister left to go in labor and then its MY TURN!! I think im freaking myself out. At this point it will be great to finally be done with pregnancy since I am about to pop, but the idea of Labor scares me SOOOO bad. I watch way too much "Babies, special delivery" on the discovery health channel. It always shows really complicated births, and its not helping, but I just can't get enough! I dont think its the pain I am afraid of, I think the two scariest things to me are

1-The epidural needle
2- That something will go wrong

I am trying to be as optimistic as possible, and prepare myself for the huge blessing I will be receiving in 7 weeks!!!

Busy Christmas... can we have a vacation from our vacation?

This Christmas KC and I spent every second fixing something! We decided not to buy each other any Christmas presents, but to upgrade our home a little instead. It ended up being a lot more work than we ever imagined. Poor KC had to do most the work while his pregnant wife just pointed and gave input on where things should go :) Our baby room is coming along, and we decided to paint some stripes for our little guy. KC measured each stripe to make sure it was nothing less than a work of art! Im so glad I have such a hard working husband!
so far we have:
removed the countertops in the kitchen and guest bathroom
replaced them with GRANITE!!
replaced both sinks and fixtures
found a crack in the bathroom granite
had the bathroom granite replaced again
moved the exercise equipment downstairs
moved the office furniture to the east bedroom
moved the baby furniture to the west bedroom
painted the baby room
took apart the master bed
cleaned out the junk in the garage
took a huge truck load to the D.I.
sanded furniture
painted furniture
cleaned up all the dust from all the changes
realized the sink faucet is too tall
exchanged the sink faucet
realized the new sink faucet doesn't fit
replaced the bathroom mirror
...
and its still a work in progress!

we also managed to visit both families and attend extended family Christmas parties, host a birthday party and host a New Years get together all in the same 2 weeks, and tomorrow its back to work for KC...

can we have a vacation now?

I love Lehi

When we first moved here I wondered how I was going to do it... Live in Lehi I mean. I guess I imagined it would be totally different than it is, because I absolutely LOVE it here! Im surrounded by beautiful scenery and I live about 3 min from Target! What more could you ask for?! I have the greatest ward in the world, and great neighbors and friends here. From the beginning I have felt like this is where we are supposed to be!

Update on the pregnancy

Things are going great! I feel HUGE, and cant put my shoes on without laying down on the ground (which was a little awkward at KC's work christmas party) but its so fun to be prego! I think my favorite part is being able to feel him kick around and know that he is just as energetic as his daddy... I don't think he ever sleeps.... I feel like I know his personality already. Hes funny! I lay in bed at night and poke him until he figures out where the poke is coming from and kicks me back. It always makes me laugh out loud while KC is trying to sleep. Im already experiencing some of the joy of motherhood! Its really a spiritual thing for me! I love my baby so much already, I can't imagine what it will be like when I get to hold him for the first time!

My pregnancy at 6 months:

Anytime I see a baby born on T.V. I cry
I cant get enough peaches
I am going through the nesting phase and cant get the house clean enough

A late halloween blog "meet the simmons"

so sad that Im just now posting these pictures, but im finally getting things organized since the trip. KC was Richard simmons and I was a fat aerobics lady... (I also was a cow for a party the night before but I like to have 2 costumes every halloween :)
KC did all the work on his costume. I did not help design the tank top, but I must say he has a creative flair! Our friend Lindzy joined in the 80s fun with some aerobics wear as well. We went to the bishops house and he still brings it up in every ward council.

My photo Albums

Ok, all of our photos are now posted under the Photo albums link on the top right corner of this blog....

Uruguay was amazing! I loved every little detail. I even wanted to take pictures of the sidewalks because they brought back memories for me. After hours of traveling and a delayed flight (which caused us to have to spend an entire day in miami with no clothes, toothbrushes, or anything) we finally made it to Montevideo and spent our first night in Uruguay in the Chaotic city! The next day we rented a car, and headed off to the beaches of Piriapolis where we decided to stay four days because we loved it so much. It was my last area in the mission, so I was able to connect again with the family that took care of me my last month when I was sick in bed. I also was able to see one of my favorite people Jose, who was baptized in the short time I was there. He spoke english with KC as we made tortas fritas in the church with the rest of the members.

We then climed the mountain PAN DE AZUCAR up to the very top where in the photos you see a tiny cross on a hill. That tiny cross happend to be an enormous cement cross when we finally got to it. I was exhausted. My huge belly didnt allow me to climb as well as I would have liked, but I really felt like I conquered something when we got there. Six months prego and still climing mountains! wooohooo!

we then headed out to Colonia where I tried to meet up with my good friend Flavia who is in military school there. She was un able to see us because she has been sick in the hospital and having some tests done, but we made the most of the drive and visited the historic city and took lots of pictures. We stayed in a nice hotel, yet the cement walls did not trap out sound and we were up all night due to some "rowdy" neighbors.

Finally we headed to Durazno, my first area in the mission where I spent six months with people who I really grew to love and bond with. This is where we did most of our visiting, and KC was forced to listen to hours of conversation in spanish. He actually understood quite a bit because of his french background, but he had a hard time responding anything besides, "donde estan mis pantalones?... aqui estan mis pantalones!" which means, where are my pants?... here are my pants! I spent most the day Friday with my friends who were baptized the first part of my mission Aracelly whos entire family is now baptized and sealed in the temple!!! and Laura who still continues to share the gospel with her family and neighbors. We ate our traditional desert (ice cream, oreos and milk) as KC stared in awe at us. No wonder I got so fat on the mission!

Our last day we attended the ward in Durazno where I was asked to share my testimony at the pulpit I knew so well, in front of my wonderful life long friends. As I spoke I was flooded with emotion remembering all the things I went through with that wonderful ward. I couldnt hold back the tears as I tried to share my testimony with them again in my broken spanish. I felt like I had never left. I remembered how much I loved being a missionary and helping people understand the importance of the gospel. It was an amazing day.

we then headed back to the airport and finished our trip with a day in New York where we visited a few of the classic tourist spots.

this was a very special trip for me. Im so glad I was able to go back and experience what I did with my wonderful husband and my little baby in my belly.

Losing my brain...

Some say its a wives tale, but I definatly agree that pregnant women lose their memory, and possibly their entire brain... I am not normal these days...

In the beginning of my pregnancy the first sign was when I set KC's wedding ring down in the grass and completely forgot about it until we were halfway home on the freeway... we found it... but it was KC's first clue to not trust my brain.
Two nights ago KC couldnt sleep (probably because I was hogging the entire bed with my massive pillows) so he headed out to the family room to watch TV. He felt a draft coming from the back door and moved the curtain to realize that I had left our back door wide open!
The next day for my YW activity we made cookies and took them to the neighbor. I had missed the street so I began to back up and found myself backing right on to a median in the road. The girls in my car screamed and threw the beautifully frosted cookies EVERYWHERE, and I spent the next half hour scrubbing frosting out of my upholstry... (no damage to the car thank heaven) THEN when I got done scrubbing in the garage I walked in my house and it smelled like burned pop corn. I had left a pan of cookies in the oven and they fried to a crisp!
Its been an interesting 5 months, and thats just a few of the many stupid things I have done... umong my list is, losing keys, forgetting wallets, forgetting bills, forgetting to put bibs on eight babys eating spaghetti, and the list goes on and on!

I hear it only gets worse... wooooo hooooo!

The story behind it...

So, now you all know its a boy, but what you didnt know is that we actually believed we were having a girl for the first 45 min. of the ultrasound. When we met the nurse, one of the first things KC said was "make sure its a boy alright!" (or something along those lines). they both joked around with eachother about how if it happened to be a girl she would need to "look again" so when we heard the news that we were having a girl, both KC and I looked at eachother and felt a little guilty for speaking so soon :) the nurse then showed us "her" feet and hands and face etc... she gave us "her" measurements, and told us "she" was sure wiggly! after forcing ourselves to really believe we were having a girl for 45 min and beginning to think about what it would be like, the nurse gasped... (not a sound you really want to hear during your ultrasound) she then said "dad, are you ready for the shock of your life?" ITS A BOY! We were both shocked again! KC smiled from ear to ear. The nurse had taken KC's advice to "look again" ...Apparently he had been crossing his legs ;)

ever since the ultrasound, baby Stayner hasnt stopped kicking! Its like he is trying to show his mommy how masculine he REALLY is... I can almost hear him yelling "no body better call me a girl!"

We cant even begin to express our joy! Boy, or girl, we are just happy to be starting our little family and bringing one more of Heavenly Fathers precious spirits down to earth!

I am just anxious to paint the baby room because either way I need to get the pea green color OFF my walls!!! Stay tuned for the news of the pinks or the blues!
