THIS IS JOY!

I cant even explain how happy I get when Smith smiles. There is nothing more adorable to me. I can prop him up in his bumbo chair and sing to him and he just lights up. He is now SIX WEEKS OLD! I cant believe how time flies.

fourths a charm!

We had such a fun weekend! My whole family came to town for Smith and Cache's blessings and Jadas baptism. It was so fun to have all the new little cousins together in one place. Nothing could be more hillarious than trying to get a picture of them all together. We all were laughing so hard we could barely hold them still.

Here are the highlights from the weekend:

SMILE!

Smith has us all figured out. He knows how to melt our hearts now with his adorable smile. Today I managed to catch a smile on camera and I was so excited! Its pretty tough trying to hold a newborn on the photo bench while tickling him and snapping a picture all at once, so we will have to do some more once daddy is home to do the tickling for me!

enjoy his latest shoot:

ONE MONTH!!

The month has flown by! Smith has grown so much and changes day to day. His stomach is feeling much better thanks to his medicine and he is finally sleeping more and eating less frequently which has been a nice break for a very tired mom! He even let me sleep a couple three hour stretches this week :)

Here are some highlights from our trip to St. George

Hangin out with Grandpa

Im pretty good at lifting my head now!

I made my cousin Zander cry when his mom held me

I am the same size as my cousin Cache who is a whole month older than me!!

Bath time at Grandmas house! Everyone in!

is it the picture, or the baby that is "out of focus"...

FAVORITE PLACE

For those of you who dont know, Smith has some minor stomach issues and grunts all day long. He has these fits where he kicks screams and wiggles to the point where I cant really even hold him. One day during one of his fits I set him on the changing table and he immediately calmed down and sat there for a long time without making a sound. Its now his favorite place. He is silent when he is on the table. There must be some interesting distraction close by for him to look at, or maybe he just realizes its where his "stomach issues" go away!

Three weeks going on FOUR!

Smith is growing up so fast! Does anyone know a way to keep babies from growing? He really has become a whole different baby this week. We finally got his tummy aches somewhat under control and he is a whole different person! I havent been home to load the new pictures I took, but here is what grandma took. He does really funny things with his arms when he sleeps...

MISS YOU!

KC has been away from his wife and baby for going on 6 days now... Smith and I are spending the week in St. George while KC is on a business trip in wisconsin and boy do we miss him! I was going through my moms computer and found some hillarious pictures of him that I wanted to share with you all so you know why we think he is so great!

Happy 1 Week Birthday!

It's hard to believe that it's ONLY been one week and at the same time that it's been an ENTIRE week since our lives changed completely! If his cuteness improves this much every week of his life... well, you get the picture. Speaking of pictures...

The happiest parents on earth

like KC mentioned I may not be up to messing around with lighting and my camera, but instead my awesome neighbor did all the work for me! I finally got to sit back and relax and WATCH a photo shoot of the cutest little boy ever. KC and I feel so blessed to have this little joy in our home. We want to thank everyone for all your love and support, and especially Jeremy and Julian for these AMAZING pics!

oh and I did manage to grab the camera and catch this amazing moment that would make any mom melt...

With Hannah being a photographer and her favorite subject being babies, you’d think that we’d have a minute by minute flip book of Smiths life up to this point… We haven’t found that to be the case just yet. I think mostly because by the time she recovers from feeding the little guy, he’s ready for either some more food or a diaper change. She hasn’t had more than a couple minutes to relax; let alone filter the background light and check her shutter speed and settings. So enjoy the lack of updates for the time being, because I’m sure once she gets back on her feet a bit more you’ll have hourly photo updates.

In the mean time... here are two suggestions from me: 1) Have a baby 2) Buy lots of cool hats for them!!! Our friend Muranda Barker makes these adorable beanies and in the name of "shameless plugs," check out their blog and buy some hats from her :) As you can see, they're very versatile. Depending on your babies hand position they can either look sweet and innocent...

Or straight up Gangsta! Word...

A new baby, a classic movie character and photoshop!

So... one of my co-workers at Pro Look Sports took my comment about Smith looking like ET more than his mom or dad and tested the theory to see how true it was...

We may need to look into alien DNA testing for a more acurate result :)

He's Here!!! Announcing Smith Maxwell Stayner

After 3 weeks of waiting to be induced, we finally got the call Saturday morning to rush to the hospital and "hurry up and wait." Hannah flew through the induction process and went into full blown labor in just a couple hours. Then, after about 25 minutes of pushing 2 became 3! Smith Maxwell Stayner was born Saturday March 8th just before 11 pm. He was 7 lbs and 19 inches.
We still don’t know exactly who he looks like… at first we both thought ET, but now that he's growing into his face and his eyes aren't as swollen we can see a little of both of us in him (go figure). Luckily he didn't get his dad's baldness... yet. We’re not sure if he got his mom’s red hair or if he just had a stylist in the womb to “frost his tips” but his hair is the most beautiful thing ever!
Both Mom and baby are healthy and happy (considering). We came home from the hospital late Sunday night and enjoyed our first night at home (again… considering).
